I have struggled with being overweight most of my life. My blood work, blood pressure and all have been exceptional through all my overweight times so health didn’t enter into the picture until 2012. I noticed I had no energy, was short of breath going up one flight of stairs and felt like every move was becoming a chore. I was 51 years old (about to turn 52) and felt I was way too young to feel the way I was feeling. This is a picture of me and my mom at her 70th birthday party in January 2013.
I started Weight Watchers for the third time on January 23, 2013. My mom later joined Weight Watchers again in April of 2013 after she saw the success that I was having. She has lost 45 pounds herself on Weight Watchers and is a Lifetime member.
This next picture was taken on March 6, 2013 and I had lost 13.6 lbs. This picture was taken at a friend’s birthday celebration and when I saw this picture posted on Facebook, I begged her to remove it. I was so embarrassed at how bad I looked. Even though I was making progress I was still horrified at how bad I felt I looked.
The next picture I took very much on purpose was at our Outstanding Staff Awards on April 2, 2013. By this time I had lost a total of 20.4 lbs. I was still not happy about how I looked but I knew I was starting to make some progress!
I made a decision to start taking picture every 25 lbs. of weight loss. Here are the new few pictures in my journey. Here are pictures at 52 lb.s loss and 77 lbs. loss. Looking back you can see my smile getting bigger and more relaxed in each picture. I noticed that I seem to have on aqua/teal every time I needed to take a new picture. The next picture I wore teal in it on purpose! In June of 2013, I started publishing a weekly electronic newsletter called “Weights and Balances. In September of 2013 a friend encouraged me to start a weight loss blog. I called it Weights and Measures and started it on WordPress.
My next picture was taken on March 19th, 2014 as I had reached my 100 lbs. milestone and I was blessed to lose the first 101.2 lbs. using Weight Watcher Online Program. I joined Weight Watchers meetings on March 29, 2014.
After joining the Weight Watchers Meetings which are held in Highwoods Preserve in New Tampa on Saturdays at 8am. I decided to try to get a Weight Watchers group started where I work. We began Weight Watchers at the University of South Florida on May 2, 2014 and we have had active sessions since that time. On July 6, 2014, I reached my Weight Watcher’s weight goal! I had lost over 115 lbs!
My story continues. Since July of last year, I have lost an additional 15 pounds and achieved a goal weight that I had set when I was 23 years old! In May of this year (2015) I was invited to share my journey on NBC’s Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda and become a member of Joy Bauer’s Joy Fit Club. What an amazing experience! I have lost now over 136 pounds. Now the tough part, maintaining!
The picture that caught the producers attention which started it all this in April 2014!
I am still actively attending the Weight Watchers meetings in Highwoods Preserve (love our group!) and maintaining my loss. In July of this year, I will be celebrating two years at my goal weight (below)! Very excited about this as my body weight has never been as stable as it has been these last two years. And any medical professional will tell you that keeping your body weight stable is a very good thing! Less stress on your body for sure!
